Viking Homelands Cruise - The Baltic Sea area and parts of Scandinavia.

September 9 - September 14
Florence, Italy

So - Here we go! Planning for this trip was going smoothly, until last week when the Air Canada flight attendants went on strike, which meant the airline was cancelling all flights. Oh no! Our flights from San Diego to Stockholm were booked on Air Canada. Fortunately, after a couple of nail-biting days, the strike ended and our flights were rescheduled.
Mostly everything went smoothly, with the exception of a passport screening machine problem that almost kept us from making our connecting flight to Stockholm. But fortunately Karen can run really fast, even with a carry-on suitcase and backpack. She was exhausted, but we made the flight!
We arrived in Stockholm today (8/26) and - the city welcomed us with a rainbow!

Based on what we saw from the bus on the ride from the airport to the ship, Stockholm is a beautiful city. There are lots of trees and green spaces throughout the city, along with lakes and the waterfront where the ship was dccked. The buildings reflected many different architectural styles from over the long history of the city, some traditional and some painted in vibrant colors that reminded us of Bergen or Italy.

Tomorrow we will have more of an opportunity to explore Stockholm and we'll share what we discovered. Hope you enjoy following along on this adventure!

So very glad that you both are experienced travlers. Looking forward to your blog and pictures.
