Our hotel and Breakfast Buffet. The Corinthian Hotel in Lisbon is a beautiful hotel with nice outdoor areas and several restaurants. The breakfast buffet, which was part of our Viking Cruise package, was one of the nicest we have ever seen! And the food was very good, especially the pastries.

Tour of the city - highlights:

Jerónimos Monastery - UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Monastery

The entrance to the church at the Jerónimos Monastery.

Beautiful azulejos tiles from 18th century decorate the Refectory

The Cloisters

Portuguese Gothic Manueline style of architecture (3 arches)

Other Places Visited:

A Current Prison

Belém Tower - UNESCO World Heritage Site used as a defensive structure in the past.

Monument to Combatants who died in oversees wars

Monument to the Discoveries Ship toppers for street lights

Flavors of Lisbon

This was a very full day! Not to mention we felt full after all the visits to local restaurants. Lisbon is a beautiful city with beautiful architecture that spans many centuries. They appreciate their past and celebrate the present. The people were friendly and the food was amazing. Can't wait to visit other parts of Portugal!

Tomorrow - the trip to Porto!
